Third Access Slot at Edinburgh IMC

Following a request from a customer, we are giving carriers an option to book a third Access slot at Belfast Inward Mail Centre and Edinburgh Inward Mail Centre, where they are regularly using three or more vehicles to handover their Access mail on each day at those respective mail centres. Carriers must be signed up to the Acceptance by Vehicle schedules of the Access Letters Contract and the Wholesale Parcels Contract to be eligible for this option.

To effect the change, we are required to inform you of the amends we are making to the Acceptance by Vehicle schedules of the Access Letters Contract and the Wholesale Parcels Contracts. The changes take effect from 25 February 2022 and the respective contract change notices (number 080 for the Access Letters Contract and 032 for the Wholesale Parcels Contracts) can be found on the Contracts page.

Change to the Trunking Service Application Process

We introduced our Trunking Service schedule into the Access Letters Contract and the Wholesale Parcels Contracts subsequent to a trial we ran in 2019 giving carriers an option to handover their Inverness labelled containers at Edinburgh Mail Centre, from where Royal Mail transits such items to the Inverness Mail Centre on behalf of the carrier for a relevant fee.

Following the renewal of the service in March 2021, some affected carriers fed back that the process for renewal could be improved. Therefore we are removing the requirement for carriers to provide us with a non-binding estimate of the number of containers they request us to transport under the service when applying to participate.

To effect the change, we are required to inform you of the amends we are making to the Trunking Service schedules of the Access Letters Contract and the Wholesale Parcels Contracts.
