A new type of container is being introduced to help Royal Mail Wholesale customers make their operation more efficient where Packets are too large to fit in a mail bag. ALPS – Auto-Level Packet Sleeves – are bigger than ordinary mail bags and can therefore take more Packets. ‘There are lots of efficiencies for the customer,’ says Service Development Manager Richard Munro. ‘It will definitely help reduce the number of under-volume bags, which will be a big benefit. ‘They’re much easier to handle – instead of tying up five or six bags and using consumables like labels, there’s no tying and they can just put the mail in the ALPS and zip it up.’ ALPS (in action right) are designed to be the exact width and depth to fit straight into the York containers used at mail centres to move mail around, so they can be moved more quickly once they are received by Royal Mail. ‘The new sleeves were introduced, for Wholesale services, in April and Royal Mail Wholesale Access Account Managers can advise customers how to obtain them,’ adds Richard. ![]() |
