New Access national prices for April 2010

Today Royal Mail Wholesale have announced the new Access national prices for April 2010. The full details can now be found on the Pricing page of this website.

In terms of headlines, Royal Mail Wholesale has kept price rises to a minimum for the coming year with the weighted average price increase across all services only 0.7%. Some prices have been cut. For example there are price cuts on Packets for Access 120, up to 24%, Access 1400 Packets, up to 23%, and Walksort Large Letters and A3, up to 8% and 6% respectively.
Prices have been held for 1400 Large Letters at all weight steps, whilst prices for 120 Large Letters reduce at the higher weight step.

There is also no increase on Access Premium prices and the Responsible Mail discounts of 0.3p for Entry and 0.7p for Intermediate remain.

In addition the Advertising Mail service will introduce a 0.25p discount for Direct Mail. Customers who can meet the environmental standard of intermediate level Responsible Mail can now achieve a total discount of 0.95p per item.

As well as keeping prices low, Royal Mail Wholesale has simplified charges.
Pricing calculation bands have been reduced, with A3 Packets and Packets now having only two price calculation bands i.e. between 250g and 1kg, and 1kg to 2kg. Also from 2010 there will now be only four zones. Each service and format will have the same percentage zonal discount or increase from the national price. This is greatly simplified; at present each service, format and weight step could have a different zonal percentage discount or increase.

All of these price changes will come into effect on Tuesday 6th April 2010.
